Because cork is sustainable

IT'S NATURAL

1

Cork is a material that comes from the bark of a particular type of oak tree, Quercus Suber, an evergreen tree native to southwestern Europe and northwestern Africa. It grows spontaneously in areas with little water and a warm climate.

IT PROTECTS THE ENVIRONMENT

2

Cork oak forests regulate the hydrological cycle, protecting the soil from erosion and storing large amounts of carbon dioxide. Cork oak trees absorb CO2 three to five times more than other plants, thanks to the extraction of the bark, which stimulates the growth of a new protective layer.

IT IS CIRCULAR

3

All cork produced can become new raw material in a virtuous process of Circular Economy. At the end of its use, it can be 100% reused and employed in endless applications.

4

IT UNITES DIFFERENT PEOPLES

5

Its natural habitat is the Mediterranean Basin, where cork plays a fundamental role in the development and cohesion among diverse populations living in resource-poor rural regions.

SOURCE OF INNOVATION

6

Cork has taught us that innovation occurs when there is the ability to see things from a different perspective. Cork is innovative because, when integrated into processes/products, it improves the starting point, enriching and qualifying the process/product to a higher level in terms of sustainability and functionality.

IT IS TRADITION

7

The cork bark harvesting is a practice unchanged for millennia and requires skills that have been passed down unchanged from generation to generation in the various phases of its collection.
